About the role 

We’re looking for a part-time doula/childbirth educator to provide in-person educational and support services to our patients receiving prenatal care at our clinic in Berkeley, CA. This role is ideal for a doula who has shifted from on-call doula care or a doula who has a strong backup. 

Our Prenatal Educators help our expecting patients prepare for childbirth, postpartum, chest/breastfeeding and newborn care. Your responsibilities 

  • Instruct and facilitate in-person prenatal classes that cover a wide range of topics including childbirth preparation, lactation, and newborn care.some text
    • Set up and break down rooms before and after classes
    • Manage sign-ups and communications to attendees before and after classes
  • Collaborate with other team members (e.g., midwives, obstetricians, nurses, doulas, nutritionists, therapists, etc.) to contribute to our interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and practices in childbirth and maternal care to offer accurate and evidence-based information to expecting parents as they prepare for their birth, newborn feeding journey and postpartum experience. 

About you 

We are looking for a compassionate and driven doula who has: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with families throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period in a counseling, educational, and hands-on supportive role.
  • Experience in prenatal educational sessions with their clients, at least 20 hospital births attended and home postpartum care. 
  • Extensive experience working directly with clinical care providers, including CNMs, RNs and OB-GYNs. 
  • A commitment to health equity, racial justice, reproductive justice and supporting principles of bodily autonomy, self-determination, and cultural respect.  
  • A commitment to providing unbiased, patient-centered care. 
  • Eager to join a team that is collaborative and supportive of one another’s needs as we navigate a growing practice that is continuously evolving.
  • Located in Bay Area, CA

Qualifications 

  • Completion of doula training
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a doula with at least 20 hospital births attended as well as home postpartum care. 
  • Experience working with a diverse population (racially, socioeconomically, educationally, BIPOC, LGBTQ, and individuals/families who have differences in their approach and philosophies to their care.
  • Skills/training in the following areas are a plus: bilingual, motivational interviewing, additional lactation certifications, prenatal nutrition training, infant cpr certification
