Vanessa Obidimalor
Nurse-Midwife
CNM
Originally from Staten Island, New York, Vanessa now lives in the Bay Area. As a queer, Black woman, she knows firsthand how essential it is for communities of color and the LGBTQIA+ community to have representation and a safe space in healthcare.
Prior to joining Millie, Vanessa worked as a Registered Nurse all over New York City while in school to become a midwife. She has experience from medical surgical units, well-baby nursery care, antepartum/postpartum, and labor and delivery. After graduating from midwifery school, she made her way across the country to the Golden Coast to start working as a midwife in Santa Cruz for 2 years.
Across all of her work, Vanessa has remained focused on equitable, evidence-based care and building trusting relationships with her patients. She is especially passionate about providing culturally sensitive care to people of color and challenging racial bias in healthcare.
She earned her Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing from New York City College of Technology (City Tech) and her Master’s in Nurse Midwifery from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.
